Not in use.

Image
Don’t you just hate when you need to use the restroom and you finally find it but there is a huge sandwich sign emblazoned with the words “Not in Use.”   A thought enters my mind.   I can run in and out before anyone notices.   Besides, it’s a restroom, it is meant to be used.   I am almost always met at the entrance by a maintenance worker who directs me to the restroom down the hall.   This one is not in use.   1 Corinthians 6:19-20 19  What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20  For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. Our bodies have been purchased by God at an enormous price.   We have been redeemed from sin and eternal death by our Lord’s death on a cross.   His blood was shed for our iniquities.   At salvation, the Holy Spirit is imparted to every believer.   Considering what God has done on our behalf,

Thanks!

I believe I am owed a wave of thanks when I allow a car to merge in front of me especially during high traffic hours.   It’s so ungrateful when a car pulls out into the space you have allowed for them after several drivers have passed by with no thought of letting that car into the lane and that drive never acknowledges the gesture.   There is much muttering going on in my car when I do not see the wave I am looking for.   No home training.   No understanding of my graciousness in pausing to let them go ahead.   I hope they remember this when someone else needs to merge or turn into their lane.   The least they can do is give a wave of thanks. How often have I not given God a wave of thanks?   How many times have I walked away from a blessing with no thought of God’s hand in my life?   How does God feel when He has made a way out of no way and I go on with my life as if I was entitled to His mercy and grace as if I earned His love and protection?   God desires thanks f

Wake up!

I heard myself snore the other morning.   As I awoke from a deep sleep, it was as though I was hearing someone close by snoring and it was not my husband.   It was me.   Russell, I thought wrongly has accused me of snoring over the years.   I have adamantly refused to believe I snored.   Is that not ridiculous?   If I am asleep how do I know that I do not snore?   Matters not, I held to the notion that I am a silent sleeper until a few days ago.   Reality hit me in the face.   I could no long ignore the obvious. I finally woke up to the fact that I snore.   Job 13:23 23  How many wrongs and sins have I committed?      Show me my offense and my sin. How many of us have spent a lifetime sleeping through our sins?   We go about our lives never considering the sins we commit each day.   We sit in worship service or Bible Study as one who has nothing to confess.   We confront others, interrogate others and throw darts at those who have fallen but not once do we take stock of o

I dread getting my car washed.   I have difficulty following the direction of the attendant as he gives hand signals in order to align my wheels with the moving track.   It seems as though I’m being led to far to the right.   Taking my foot off the break and shifting to neutral is nerve racking as well.   What if I run into the car in front or the car behind hits my bumper?   None of it seems like it should work.   In the past, I have been hit by a car from behind but I must admit I put my hands on the steering wheel which threw the car off track.   Water has come flooding into my car also but that time I’d forgotten to roll up all the windows.   I have issues entering the car wash and while inside.   Despite the angst, my car comes out clean. Joshua 1:9 9  Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord : and he delighteth

Inseparable

1950-2015 In this life we are not inseparable.  Regardless of the intensity and overwhelming love we have for one another, there comes a time when one of us leaves the other.  Eros love can be intoxicating and we think our love will last a lifetime but we are mere mortals.  Our love is temporal and at times conditional.  We yearn for a significant other to share our life with even going as far as sacrificing Godly standards to manipulating that person into a making a commitment they are not ready to make. At times we believe are lives are unfulfilled because we are not melded to another.  Those who do have a marriage partner can make the mistake of holding that person too tightly.  We fail to acknowledge the One who is truly inseparable. Romans 8:38-39 38  For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39  neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us f
