Decisions, decisions, decisions, cause much consternation and anxiety. Which course do I take? It’s hard to prioritize when choosing the right course of action especially when you throw in what will please your family, your colleagues or your friends. Making others happy is usually a fool’s errand. What is fine with one person sets off a war with another? Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we had only one person to please? Galatians 1:10 10 Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. We truly only have an audience of One. There is only One Person we should concern ourselves with pleasing. The stress and strain of life emanate from attempting to please everyone. Isaiah 59:1-2 59 Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. 2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. Sometimes, it’s us. There are seasons in our lives when God seems distant. Prayers have gone unanswered. We question whether God still cares. We wonder if God is able to intervene on our behalf. The elders intercede for us, our friends pray in earnest and our family stays on their knees. And yet, there is silence. Be assured, God is not so far away that He cannot move in our lives. His arms are able to touch us wherever we are in life. He is in control and well aware of our needs and desires. He hears every prayer whether spoken or unspoken. The problem is not God, it’s us.
