Is it fake?

Image
This watch is a front.  I wore it a few days ago because it matched my earrings and necklace.  I pretended as though I used it to tell time.  It's been stuck on 9:55 for years.  The watch is a showpiece, worn for appearances.  Presenting something as true when you know in fact it is false is the height of hypocrisy.   Romans 12:9a 9  Let love be without hypocrisy.  Love is sincere and pure without ulterior motive or self-contentedness.  How does a person discern whether love is the real deal or hypocrisy?  If love is on display for special occasions only, it's probably fake.  If your needs must be met in order to love another, it is counterfeit.  If love is used to manipulate others, it is plain deception.  If convenience is a deal breaker, your love is conditional.  Love as a farce is contrary to Christian love.  To commit completely to fulfilling the needs of the one loved despite the cost to one self is authentic love.  Wearing a fake watch is hypocritical but ha

Do we really mean it?

Do we really mean it?  We ask for God’s direction.  We promise to follow His leading.  Let’s just be honest.  By the time we petition God, our plan is already in the works.  Our mind is made up. Our desire is to seek God’s blessing on our decision.  We want God to agree with us and make it happen.  “Have it your way” is the Burger King theme, not God’s.  It is difficult kneeling before the Lord empty without a preconceived plan or list of supplications.  God knows best is easy to say to someone else.  The true test is when you have to trust God when you do not understand where He is leading and why then follow Him anyway. Jeremiah 42:1-6 42 Now all the captains of the forces, Johanan the son of Kareah, Jezaniah the son of Hoshaiah, and all the people, from the least to the greatest, came near 2  and said to Jeremiah the prophet, “Please, let our petition be acceptable to you, and pray for us to the Lord your God, for all this remnant (since we are left but a few of many, as you c

A Great God

The sun will rise in the East today.  Earth shall continue to rotate on its assigned axis as it has from the beginning of time.  The stars and all the host of heaven will remain in their appointed positions.  Summer will give way to fall.  Rain will fall and return to the clouds.  The wind will blow across the plains emanating from a place unknown to man.  How can I be certain that these mighty acts will come to pass?  Psalm 145:3-7 3  Great is the Lord , and greatly to be praised; And His greatness is unsearchable. 4  One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts. 5  I [ a ] will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, And on Your wondrous works. [ b ] 6  Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts, And I will declare Your greatness. 7  They shall utter the memory of Your great goodness, And shall sing of Your righteousness. The greatness of our God assures us that what He spoke into existence will re

Expired

Image
It’s embarrassing when a parent returns a sample or formula to the office unused because the product has expired.  On occasion, sales representatives deliver expired items.  More than likely, someone on staff was not paying attention at the time. The problem with expired medication, formula, vaccines or even food is that they are not as effective, the taste has gone from bad to worse and the active ingredient has deteriorated.  What you have left is of no use. Therefore, the manufacturer directs buyers to use that you have before the expiration date. John 9:4-5 4  I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. 5  As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” Every believer is given at least one spiritual gift to bless the body of Christ and give God glory.  At every opportunity, our gift(s) are to be used for the edification, exhortation and education of fellow believers and as a witness to the world.  We
