The Thing

Philippians 4:13

13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
According to your estimation, what is the thing you believe you cannot do?  Moses thought he was incapable of leading a people.  Joshua was reluctant about accepting the mantel of leading the Jews into the Promise Land.  Gideon was ambivalent about going to battle with only 300 men.  Doubting his ability to prevail, Barak recruited the prophetess Deborah to accompany him into battle against the Canaanites.  Even the Apostle Peter sank after initially walking on water toward Jesus.  We are all guilty of procrastinating, making excuses, hesitating and outright refusing to do what God has called us to because in our mind, the thing seems impossible.  There is nothing impossible with God.  The prophets of old had second thoughts about their ability to do the thing God had commanded.  To their credit, they trusted in God and not themselves to complete His work.
We all have a thing to do, assign by God.  The honorable, Stevie Wonder penned the lyrics:

"Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing"

Everybody's got a thing
But some don't know how to handle it
Always reachin' out in vain
Accepting the things not worth having but

Don't you worry 'bout a thing
Don't you worry 'bout a thing, mama
Cause I'll be standing on the side
When you check it out

It is God standing by our side helping us handle our assignments, so don’t you worry about a thing.
